Where the Passion Begins
Director Peter Sweetmore joined the Dansworks Board when it became a Community Interest Company. Peter’s background from leaving school, was as a Nurse for over 20 years, then he moved to become the Managing Director of a Social Alarms Company, then going on to work with Rossendale Hospice, before finishing his salaried working life at the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service.
Peter is enthusiastic about ‘Everything Rossendale’ and he works tirelessly, supporting the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector across the whole Valley. He was the Chairman of Governors at Tor View Special Needs Community School in Haslingden for over 25 years, becoming Chairman of the Trustees of ‘The Sea View Trust’ when Tor View became a Multi School Academy. Upon retiring from this role, he put his experience to work, helping to create Rossendale’s Community Radio Station – Rossendale Radio, and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors, as well as presenting the Breakfast Show three days per week. Peter is a familiar face at so many major Valley Events, including The Valley at Work Awards, Pride of Rossendale Awards and many other prestigious Valley events where he can be found with microphone in hand as the Event MC.
Peter also Chairs the Rossendale 60’s Festival Group, who put on an annual 60’s Festival that takes place over the 2nd weekend of September each year, with an average of forty or more, 60’s themed events taking place during the festival.
He is the proud Grand Father, Father and Husband, married to Gill, whilst also being her main carer, due to an accident sustained many years ago.
Peter avidly supports all the work done by Dansworks and is immensely proud to see the excellent achievements of the staff and students.
